LEGACY OF TURELZEVIR: DOLL REAVER OFFICIAL GAME SCRIPT (FINAL DRAFT) SECTION 36 (KAIN/RAZIEL/TURELZEVIR/FRANK) “A New Future.” The sky is a beautiful image of stars. Suddenly, fireworks explode spectacularly, more and more fireworks of different colours fill the night sky. The view pans down, we can see that the Death Star (at a low altitude) and KAIN’S commandeered Imperial Sarafan Destroyer (floating gently on the sea next to the coast) are launching the fireworks. Music can be heard, cheerful music, played with primitive instruments formed from the ruins of The Device II and the Hylden Hoverships. The view moves across, and outside the decaying Sanctuary of the Clans, there is a party taking place. The humans rescued from the Hylden City (the crew of KAIN’S Sarafan Destroyer), VORADOR and his team of Vampires, The SEER’S and the rebel Hylden she leads, UMAH, MOEBIUS, the Turel Clones, the Sluagh, DARTH VADER (still cradling UMAHBIUS and MOEMAH), the humans from The Citadel, and the remains of the vampire clans are all dancing, laughing and celebrating. They have won, the Dark Forces have finally been defeated! INT. SANCTUARY OF THE CLANS There is a much more sombre mood in here, it is dark with flickering light, and slight rumbles of the music outside can be heard. In the middle of the sanctuary, before the ruined Pillar of Balance a funeral pyre burns. Above the pile of flaming wood, we can see the flames flickering around the facing-up body of the SARAFAN LORD / ANI KAIN / KAIN. He is still clothed in the armour of the Sarafan Lord, but without the mask. Standing in front of the pyre are KAIN and RAZIEL. They stand in silent memory. Eventually, one speaks. Frank’s final message keeps repeating over and over in my mind. With all the time streamers and all their corrupt insidious intentions and careful tactful little paradoxes, we simply rode one juggernaut of a paradox through the time stream and changed everything. When he decided to sacrifice himself, he trusted us, trusted us to make it work this time. RAZIEL I’m going to miss him, Frank. He was just... so sexy. KAIN Yes. Yes he was. But not just that, he represented the good sides of us all; the sides of us that just wanted to get along. RAZIEL We won’t forget him. He gave his short life for the small chance that, this time, we CAN make it work. RAZIEL gestures to the burning pyre. Kain. He was your father... KAIN His coin certainly had a sharp edge, didn’t it? I asked Moebius and the Seer to shed some light on the matter, they were most helpful in helping me realise exactly how deranged the Vamperor was! Not content with one Kain, he wanted to take advantage of the one to many paradoxes you two caused, and make a second lieutenant. He wanted me. I didn’t even realise humans and vampires could... y’know. KAIN Yes, well apparently they can. Mortanius saw it coming, him turning to the side of the dark forces. Without that demon in him, he was free to rescue us... RAZIEL You and Umah? KAIN Yes, take us away from our changing father. He placed Umah with the nobility of Meridian, and I with the nobility of Coorhagen. I never knew that my human family, the nobles of that fair city, were not of my blood. We were never really close. RAZIEL What of your human mother, your real mother? KAIN I have no memory of her, but Umah does. From what she has told me, our parent was a democratically elected Queen of Willendorf, King Ottmar’s predecessor. You can get democratically elected Queens? KAIN Apparently. RAZIEL That’s just stupid. KAIN Yes, well, my father helped her out with a couple of complications... its all a bit complex but one thing led to another... I never really saw myself as the romantic type. And a human too! RAZIEL She must have been something special... KAIN Not that I’ll ever know... Moebius and the Seer, who know more about time than any one else, offer the theory that when Kain rescued you and him from that grim future, you changed everything. You created a new Nosgoth and became beings outside of time. So, in that moment, we were separated. Your Kain had his future, and I have my own. And what do you plan on doing with that future? KAIN I... I just don’t know. I’ve been rethinking what I am... I think Frank’s sacrifice really had an effect on me. Take over world and rule myself, as the Vamperor wanted to do, and watch as it decays into decadence. Or work together, with my new... new friends... to build something that works. I think, the latter is more... appealing. RAZIEL I’ve seen, and lived, the alternative. And you are right. KAIN What about you, saviour of Nosgoth? RAZIEL Hah. I’m not sure either. I really thought that, when I destroyed the Spirit Shield Generator, I would die along with it... Moebius has said to me that he can place me in any time I like. KAIN And... RAZIEL And at the moment, I think I like it right here. No one wants to kill anyone else. Everything has turned out nice, and happy, hasn’t it? We saved the world, we rescued Vorador from Malek's Palace after he was frozen in carbonite by my father, hah, even Moebius the time-streaming git has joined us. RAZIEL By getting together with your sis... KAIN Don’t start. Suddenly, the ground begins to shake and quake. Dust falls off the walls and ceiling of the long-empty Sanctuary. KAIN What the hell!? How could I be so blind!? Why did I not realise!? KAIN What!? Realise what!? RAZIEL One of the last times we met, he told me that it may be possible for him to resume his role as balance guardian without dying... It’s happening, its really happening!! KAIN What!?! The Pillars are becoming brighter and whiter. Oh my... EXT. NOSGOTH - OUTISDE THE SANCTUARY OF THE CLANS The Pillars shoot up incredibly, smashing through the domed roof and into the night sky. They glow with white, brilliant energy, and keep rising to the infinite. And the hum diminishes, and the land stops shaking. In the sky, the nine bright monoliths stand tall. The music has stopped. My gods... SEER They’re back. KAIN and RAZIEL lift themselves out of the rubble and look on in awe. KAIN The Pillar of Balance made the sacrifice. RAZIEL Yes. I suspect it took his exhausted soul a while to make it back to the Pillar from whence he came. KAIN Now it fits. It all fits. The Vamperor couldn’t kill him without this happening. So, he made him one of his own... RAZIEL Why then, did he try to get you to kill him, your future self, your father? Wouldn’t that have healed them too? KAIN Yes... But if I had killed my father, I’d have become one of the Dark Forces, I’m sure of it. The Pillars would be healed, and I as The Vamperor’s slave would have lived in a stable world of cloned Hylden. RAZIEL Ah. Then everything fits. KAIN Yes. Yes it does. RAZIEL But, what of the things that don’t fit... How was Vorador alive in Meridian? Why did Malek have two bodies? Why did the Soul Reaver change in appearance so drastically, and why did the Pillars symbols change? Why did the Pillars clearing change to have a castle around it, why did Vorador turn green, why did Pillars collapse so pathetically, how does Umah stand without falling over, who the bloody hell is The Seer, why does the Dark Forge lock people in, what happened to the glyphs, why did I visit two fire forges, who lead the vampire worshippers, what is all this I hear about a chess match, how come the forges were locked in time periods before I had visited them, and what in holy hell happened to the glyphs and my constrict ability....? There are perfectly good explanations to ALL of those points. RAZIEL Really? KAIN Yes. Go on then. KAIN What? RAZIEL Explain them. KAIN Now? RAZIEL Now would be a good time, yes. Pause. Okay. Well, you see, it all makes sense if you know that... The chamber is dark, dank and forgotten. A green explosion sheds light into the flooded chambers and through the hole swims a small strange squid creature. Knowing exactly where it is going, it finds the familiar crevice in which the subterranean Pillars enter the earth, and makes contact with the Pillar of Balance. As evil green lightening sparks, the two become fused, and growing suddenly, the squid’s tentacles fuse onto all the Pillars. A very subdued chuckle is heard from The VAMPEROR. It has all the time in the world. EXT. CITY OF THE ANCIENTS – NOSGOTH’S PAST The breathtaking city of The Ancients glimmers in the sunshine, surrounded by the beautiful rural world of early era Nosgoth. Ancients wander the courtyards; some are flying elegantly to and fro. INT. CITY OF THE ANCIENTS – KING’S THRONE ROOM An ancient ascends the red-carpeted steps to the King’s throne. He carries a dusty book with him. Reaching the top, he sees two of the Ancient Royal Guard standing at the side of a spinning throne, which is facing away, looking out of the great window in the background onto Nosgoth. The Ancient raises the old tome. Your majesty, I have brought the book of the time-stream to you from the vaults. It has been forbidden for many centuries, as the teachings of time travel and the construction of time-streaming devices can do untold damage in the talons of those with questionable values. The throne spins around and the occupant, the new ruler of The Ancients and Ancient Nosgoth, is revealed. Good! Now leave me alone, I have a lot of SCHEMING and EVIL plotting to do!! I may have lost the Doll Reaver, but the Legacy of Turelzevir has only just begun! Mwah-hahahahahaha-haa-haaa-haaaa!!!! The Ancient leaves. Without his dark side, without any of their dark sides, the Ancients have a new leader who they simply must obey. EXT. CITY OF THE ANCIENTS – NOSGOTH’S PAST The manic evil laugh continues to echo throughout the City of the Ancients. EXT. NOSGOTH Seeing the Pillars healed, the party continues only with more happiness and louder music. Humans, Vampires, Hylden, Sluagh, Clones, Wraiths, Hybrids and Soul Reavers, they are all celebrating! As KAIN and RAZIEL emerge from the Sanctuary to join their friends, at the top of a high cliff a small blade of grass emerges from the dry ancient rock, the first of many. Standing next to it looking down on our heroes, are the smiling ghosts of MORTANIUS, VORADOR #2, MAGNUS, OTTMAR and ANI KAIN. They did it. MORTANIUS We all did it. Frank. MORTANIUS Frank has a more expansive and eventful future than you may suspect my friend. He isn’t going to be joining us on our journey just yet... ANI KAIN That pleases me, Mortanius. Only one thing pleases me more, and that is my legacy to the world, my destruction of the Pillars, my delivery Nosgoth to the Dark Forces, is over. They have been healed, the Dark Forces have been defeated, and the Legacy of Kain has finally come to an end. As they become more translucent, they watch our heroes one last time, sitting together, laughing, smiling, happy, and surrounded by their friends at the dawn of a new world.
